Session Two

Welcome to Session Two

Sister Marie Veritas, SV

Jesus Is For You!

Description: Jesus' love for you is not a generic love - it's an intense, personal, unique, intentional love. He gives Himself to you in the Eucharist because he wants YOU, not what you can do for him. He wants to be with you, and speak to your heart.

How to Get More from Sr. Marie
You are good, unique, and worthy of love. That's why our community exists. That's why we serve women who find themselves pregnant and in crisis. That's why we host weekend retreats. That's why we walk the road of healing with women who have suffered after abortion. We want every person to know that they are a gift.

Sr. Marie Veritas' Five Steps of Prayer:
Come before him and be real
1. Come before him and make an act of reverence
2. Tell him what’s going on in your heart - concerns,  joys, worries, etc
3. Ask him, what do you think about this?
4. What are you going to do about this?
5. Thank him - show gratitude

How to Get More from Sarah
If you're anxious or feel inadequate … when you’re alone or your world’s falling apart... You can trust God! Learn how from Old Testament heroines and modern day women in "Becoming Women of the Word: How to Answer God's Call with Purpose and Joy." It brings the Bible to life.

Sarah Christmyer's Five Point Plan
Philippians 4: 4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1. Focus on the Lord's Presence - "Rejoice... the Lord is Near!" The Lord, the Creator of the universe, our Savior, is near!!!

2. Give the Lord the problem (prayer)
"let your requests be made known to God."

Other Scriptures about prayer:
Cast your burdens on the Lord and He will sustain
you! (Psalm 55:22)

“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; 42 one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42)

Only one thing is needed - go to His feet in prayer (not instead of serving others)  but, on the contrary, so that we can serve others in joy and peace

3. Ask the Lord for help to carry the cross
"Make your requests known to God..." Ask for grace, strength, peace and guidance.

4. Thank Him for His care!
"with thanksgiving..."  In EVERYTHING give thanks
(not necessarily for everything.)

5. Leave it with God
He will either take it away from you, tell you what to do or give you the grace to handle it in peace.

Suggestions - spiritual practices

  1. Memorize the above scriptures

  2. Memorize a Psalm that focuses on thanksgiving for example Psalm 100

  3. Play music that focuses on thanksgiving. Put together a playlist.

  4. Use a gratitude journal or a gratitude jar.
